Zantac Lawsuit claims are being handled by law firm in San Diego, California, according to Zantac's website. In 2021, Zantac was diagnosed by the American Cancer Society to have possibly caused cancer in the gastrointestinal system, esophagus, larynx, kidney, pancreas and liver. Zantac was also diagnosed by The National Toxicology Program as one of the most common prescribable pain relievers. In addition, Zantac was found to contain hydrocodone, which is commonly known as Percodan, a controlled substance, according to court documents and the FDA web site. Hydrocodone is commonly used as a painkiller and to relieve a variety of different ailments, including, but not limited to, chronic pain, migraine headaches, toothaches, back pain, neck pain, etc.
Zantac Lawsuit is suing Zantac USA, Inc. and their distributor, C.N. Sweene, Inc., for wrongful death and negligence. It is filing the case in San Diego County, California, according to court documents. Zantac claims that the products it sells are sold legally and that its products do not contain hydrocodone or any controlled substances, and yet, C.N.Sweene manufactures Zantac products and sub-contracts out the manufacture of Zantac to other pharmacies. Zantac states that they distribute medicines called Zantac liquid and capsules, Zantac lozenges, Zantac chewing gums, Zantac eye drops, Zantac throat lozenges, Zantac nasal sprays, Zantac oral thrush and Zantac hair loss treatment. The products claim to treat extremely high levels of uric acid in the body. Zantac claims that they treat ulcers and gout, prevent gout attacks, corrects the underlying problems associated with high levels of uric acid and corrects the kidney problems caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood stream. According to Zantac, one in five people are diagnosed with high levels of uric acid and one in eight people will be diagnosed with chronic gout. In a related lawsuit filed by Zantac, it is alleged that C.N.Sweene did not act in accordance with Zantac's standard of care, as their products did not protect consumers from the risk of carcinogenicity. As previously stated, Zantac states that there is no scientific evidence that any of their products contain a carcinogen. However, according to Zantac Lawsuit plaintiff attorney, plaintiffs argue that there are many links between certain ingredients and human carcinogens. Specifically, plaintiffs argue that defendant's products containing alachlor, atrazine, lindane, genetin, methoxychlor, ethylene oxide, isocyanuric acid and Quaternary ammonium-9 are all linked to human carcinogens, such as acrylamide, benzene, brominated catalysis and nitrosomines. As a result of the potential harmfulness of their products, Zantac Lawsuit says that they are owed an immediate financial measure of monetary damages and a potential for future compensation damages.
